In addition to poison dart frogs, Rana Terraria also offers selected other amphibian species suitable for tropical rainforest terrariums. These include primarily various tropical tree frogs, as well as occasionally smaller, brightly colored mantellas.
Many of these species originate from the rainforests of Central and South America or from Madagascar and exhibit fascinating behavior that can be observed particularly well in naturally designed, planted terrariums.
Among the best-known representatives of this category are tropical tree frogs from the genera:
A particularly well-known example is the red-eyed tree frog (Agalychnis callidryas), which, with its bright red eyes and contrasting body, is one of the most popular terrarium frogs. These frogs are mostly nocturnal, enjoy climbing, and are strongly dependent on humid rainforest habitats. Accordingly, they require vertically structured terrariums with plenty of plants, branches, and hiding places.
Occasionally, we also offer species of the genus Mantella. Mantella frogs originate from Madagascar and, with their bright colors, resemble poison dart frogs, but they belong to a different frog group. They are mostly diurnal and terrestrial, which makes them particularly well-suited to densely planted rainforest terrariums.
Tropical amphibians have specific environmental requirements. The most important factors are:

✔️ Terrariums rich in structure and with many plants
✔️ Climbing structures and retreat areas
✔️ stable temperatures
✔️ a functioning moisture management system
Many species also benefit from larger, vertically structured terrariums that allow for a rainforest climate that is as close to natural as possible.
